Anyone know where I can get a set of welding goggles? I sometimes have to do a weld in a very confined spot and my helmet makes it even more difficult. I'm not talking about those shade 5 goggles for like brazing, I want something where you can actually look at the arc. They used to make them in the old days, but I can't find a set. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Reply:Aside from the possibility of getting spatter in the face, the normal green lab style goggles that take a rectangular filter plate, can be fitted with filters other than just shade 5.
Reply:I'd be happy with that. Where can I get the filters that would fit?
Reply:I've seen those at my LWS. Even some hardware stores near me.Its the same rectangular filter that goes into a helmet.

Reply:those are called monkey hoods and they are hot as hell but they work in a bad spot nicely. Theres no room for stickers though so you'll have to get your old lady to sew on some patches instead.
Reply:I just got this on ebay with a clear a fixed and a auto darkening shade for 220 but you can get them from snapon for 300. Its supposed to be the closest fitting mask on the market. |
