I just got my new MIG nozzle which is the 1/8" smaller tip with taper. When I installed it on the gun I noticed the wire tip is now about 1/8" below the surface of the nozzle tip and before there were just about even. Are there any advantage / disadvantage to this now? I do remember reading somewhere that spray arc transfer occurs when the tip is below the nozzle top. Would this be the case or only in high voltage welders? I am using a Lincoln Pro MIG 175 and a Pro MIG 135.Thank in advance!Mike

Reply:Hi Sandy,My tip is now below the gas nozzle tip about 1/8". So I guess I am going to have to push it closer to the work when welding.I wonder why they did that with this new tip. Maybe to promote better gas flow with the smaller tip?Mike

Reply:Thanks for the info Sandy!I am gonig to see if I can get a matching length tip. Would you recommend turing up the gas for the smaller nozzle? Also have you ever hear of someone using a tip that sticks out past the nozzle? This would allow to get into tigher places and I would assume you would need more gas? Thanks,Mike
