(I'm re-posting here since the Miller forum seems to be dead)I have a old Miller welder, model SRTA-3AP with a TIG. It worked just fine until yesterday. As soon as I struck an arc with the TIG it went to full amperage and the pedal had no effect. I tried switching back to standard (not remote) amperage control and turned the amperage on the machine all the way down, but it still supplied full amperage to the TIG. I found that with the switch on Remote and the pedal unplugged, it supplied minimum power as if the amperage were turned all the way down, reguardless of where the dial was set. Our local Miller serviceman isn't around until late this week. I described the problem to him and he said it was "Board control issues". I'd rather not have to wait until he returns to repair the unit.To summarize:Pedal plugged in = full amperage, reguardless of any switches/settings.Pedal unplugged, switch set to "remote" (amperage control) = minimum amperage, reguardless of amperage setting on machine.Pedal unplugged, switch set to "standard" (amperage control) = full amperage, reguardless of amperage setting on machine.Anyone have any ideas? |
