Hey guys I need some input. I have an older Hobart Ironman 250 mig. It's probably around a 92' or 93' model. I have noticed excessive spatter and erratic welding at high voltage settings. It's leaving fuzzy looking welds with weld material splashed around the edges of the weld. Also noticed when welding. It will begin erratic and then smooth out during welding. I use 75 /25 as gas, at a flow rate of 20. Any ideas on what the cause might be? Thanks, Brett Day
Reply:Excessive spatter generally indicates you're too hot. Of course without knowing what material you're welding and what thickness, it's hard to say. If you're confident in your abilities and positive it's the machine, Hobart has a sub-forum here for tech problems.Miller Dynasty 200DXMillermatic 210 w/ Spoolmate 3035Hypertherm Powermax 380JD Squared Model 32Multiple fabrication tools & equipmentFull Powder Coating Setup |
