pipe bender plans

hi im 14 and live in australia and im goin to make a pipe bender.i need to know a few things first though. where could i buy some dies for it.i live on a farm so i got a lot amd scrap metal that in going to use.a picture of a simple idea i got i was goin to upload a picture but cant seem to get one on ill try again later

Reply:I was going to have a crack at this one too but with our upcoming move to australia I'll probably just sit on the plans and watch this thread for now
Reply:I have to agree with drivethruboy54.  Plus Frank seems like a great guy. I have cut and drilled all the steal but just have not welded mine up yet.
Reply:I hate to take poop on a project, but these benders are fairly cheap at northen or h/f. I have one and was let down by it.  it's very hard to get 2 bents on one pipe. Reply:you were right those are cheap pipe benders not tubing benders. there is a huge difference in workmanship and price! jus my 2 cents worth greg
Reply:thanks for your inputs, and ive heard that those pipe benders arent to good. so i was wondering if any one knows where i can pick up some FREE plans for a good pipe bender and tube bender

Reply:Go trikes Plans are very easy. They use ProTools Dies and I can tell you the Guys at ProTools are 1st Class.I've nearly finished my bender, as soon as I can I post some pics up.

Reply:I built mine last summer, definitely worth the cost of the plans.  I built mine with the air/Hydraulic cylinder, spend the extra 20-30 bucks for it, it makes a night and day difference. It seemed to be about 60 pumps per 90 degree bend manually, vs. press a lever and wait. He has plans to use the air/hydr. unit now, but when I did it, I just modified the original plans to take into account the larger cylinder base.PatrickLincoln 175HD
Reply:Ok, do you want a PIPE bender or a TUBE bender?  They are different.  If you only need to bend PIPE the Harbor Freight style is the cheapest route.  If you want to bend TUBE or PIPE you can go with the ProTools, JD2 or gottrikes version.  With the second options you can buy dies for either pipe or tubing but far as I know no one die will do both pipe and tube because of diameter differences.The bender you have sketched is like what tigmusky posted and is for PIPE not TUBING.  They will crush/stretch tubing.
