Reply:I used to do a lot of that using gmaw. We had an old lathe chuck rigged for a roller with adjustable speed. Start at the back and run one continuous bead all the way out. Brush it off and do another. It went pretty quick but was thoroughly boring. I finished a build up job on some track hoe teeth yesterday using 309L (customer specified it even though I recommended a hard surface rod). Took 4 hours to do 4 teeth then another 4 shaping them with a grinder. You should have heard him squeal when I handed him the bill. The difference between art and craft is the quality of the workmanship. I am an artist.
