Used to weld for a living, when I was in my 20's. I am in my 30's now, and want to get back into a welding career.I Have spent the last 10 yrs. as a forklift operator, and no longer have a desire to drive a HI LO.I was wondering if anyone out there, has been in the same situation. I took a vertical weld test for a job prospect, and failed. Seems that time has made me loose my feel for sparking an arc. I used to be a good Stick and Mig welder. Does anyone have any advice for this guy going thru his mid life crises? And how long did it take you to get the feel back? Some of my friend's say it's like riding a bike. But I can still ride a bike. Thank you for any input that tou may have on the subject!
Reply:I have never busted a test...but I can feel your pain, If it's what you want to do, don't give up..and Welcome...
Reply:i also left it alone for a while ....(marriage,house,son, etc) but as i've learned get some metal and some rods and i guarantee it will come back quickly and probably with greater ease and proficiency than in the past. but as always PRACTICE..... and welcome aboard! i don't have a spunky username just what it is, me! |
