I think I saw 306 and 309 I was wondering if there is a large difference between the material. I am looking to weld food grade stainless, like counter tops. I don';t know the exact type of stainless it is. they usually say 300 series. thanks.
Reply:Food grade stainless is generally 304 series. You'll want to use one of the E308 wires to weld it. Most manufacturers offer an E308 wire specifically for 304 or 18/8 stainless.-Heath
Reply:how do those numbers relate to tig wire? for 304 stainless? thanks. I forgot to say it was filler rod ( looks like wire to me) for tig. thanks. for the reply.
Reply:ok I found it. sorry for the confusion on my part.
Reply:I looked at the spool that I have and it's ER308 rather than E308. You'll probably be able to find it for GMAW and GTAW and if you can't, there's no reason that you couldn't use GMAW wire with GTAW. Given that I've seen cut lengths of ER70S-3 for GTAW, I bet it's the same designation.-Heath
Reply:thanks I found it on cyberweld, and got a tube of it. |
