hi i am buying a lincoln sp170 and have been told that it will have a 15A connection and i should change this to a 10A is this right and how do i go about doing this
Reply:Howdy! Interesting...  basically, if it's a 120 volt machine, it'll draw damn near max current on a 20 amp circuit, some nuisance trips.  don't even bother having it on a 15 amp circuit.  If it's a 240 volt machine (which I believe it is) then you should have no problem with cord ends.  I don't have a nema refererence book in front of me, but I am guessing the 15A Vs. a 10a cord end is in relation to nema designation for the pin setup.  A 20 amp, 12 guage 240 volt plug and breaker setup is what you should have or get.  You COULD get a 10 guage setup, with 30 amp breaker and 240 volt dryer plug and recepticle.  If you have long runs from the panel, that might be a good idea.  Maybee this clears things up, maybee not.  Brian Lee Sparkeee24
