I have been working with my new welder & plasma cutter for about a year now, on and off for small projects.  I've been storing them in a cabinet in the garge when not in use due to the fact that I don't use it all the time, and there's no where to leave it out in my "half-garage" shop that I share with the wife's laundry room.  I recently decided that I won't use it if it's in a cabinet, so I got to work on a cart because I found a small corner to keep it in.  I found that "cord control" was one of the major problems that I wanted to deal with so I tried to make them easy to access and store. I put a drawer in it for tools and suppllies and  locking wheels on the front.  Most welds are on the inside to give it a clean look (also because I'm still learning).  The frame is semi-gloss black with gray hammertone top, drawer front and lower perforated filler covers.  The wife wanted to make me covers but only finished one so far. How is that for a Po Boy welding bench!   Attached ImagesHobart 140 Handler w/ gasHyperTherm Powermax 380 Plasmaoxy/acetylene

Reply:That looks SOOO nice.  Everything close and a nice cover.  I might also point out that your garage is clean and organized.  Did you clean it up before taking the picture?  Just kidding.  Todd
Reply:Very nice.  Praises for you and your wife.
Reply:Looks great, good job!I'm currently working on resisting the urge to buy a plasma cutter. So how do you like yours?- John
Reply:Excellent Job!     I really like the clean approach to cord/hose control. There are no small projects
Reply:Thanks guys.  Yes Zap, it's my design.  I did a sketch of what I wanted to do, took some basic dimensions and made a material list, picked 1 1/4" x 1/8" angle, a reasonable wheel size, and just started cutting.  I made a jig some time ago for another project to easily cut 45*s with the plasma, so I did miter corners on the upper and lower boxes.  As for the plasma, you have to have one.  I used to use a torch or carbide disk but these are so much nicer.  Fast, easy with very little mess and not as loud as a carbide.  The neighbors like that. This is as messy as my neat shop gets.  Check out this pic of my old welding cart. Reply:Rick:Very nice job. I like the design and functionality it represents. Now, if you really want to score points with the wife (see first picture), make another one, put some fancy scroll work on it and it can become a tea service cart for that nice patio....I too, am interested in how you made the drawer..Cheers.Glenn.Sign on East Texas payphone: Calls to God 40 cents......it's a local call...
