I'm almost a one year Migger.This was FCAW actually, I don't remember the settings and stuff though...Sorry for the not-so-good picture, my camera is crap.
Reply:Not too bad. fluxcore never comes out as pretty as you would like, but it looks nice and solid...The heat looks ok. Looks like you change speed a bit early on, you started out moving kinda fast, then you slow down. I'd just say to try and keep your speed a little more consistant and the overall appearance will improve. Did you clean the metal before you did the bead or only after?Smithboy...if it ain't broke, you ain't tryin'.

Reply:I'll echo smithboy. Bead doesn't look too bad for flux core. Flux core is a little faster freeze so you could slow down a little. Even travel speed will come later. With that comparitive thickness you could run a little hotter maybe.Just for reference, about half way between the two bolt holes, there is a teeny stretch where it is smoother and wet out better. You can even see where it wicked up and grabbed the base metal on the upper (red spots) side. That's kinda how I like mine to look. Nice pic. |
