HF inverter welder

Hi guys.  I have a small job this weekend welding up some sheet metal and there will be no 220v power available.  I was thinking of buying one of these units, http://www.harborfreight.com/welding...der-66787.htmlAnd trying to connest it to 110 power.  I know a lot of machine are dual power capable but I dont know if this woud be possible or practical.  Can anybody give me some guidance?  I know they have an 80 am inverter that has good reviews but I would like to Have one that comes with a tig torch.  any suggestions?

Reply:Yeah I know it doesnt include a solenoid.  I have a 17-v.  Mostly curious about the power input requirements.  I wouldnt say it has to be tigged but my torch outfit is big I dont have oe of the little units.  Brazing might get it done but I havent done any brazing in a long time but I know I could tig it. Basically it's a small job for a doctor. It involves replacing the latch mechanism inside a truck door.  I'm not gong to strip the window regulator and stuff out of it so heat input is kind of critical.  That's why I hadn't considered OFW.

Reply:close.  it's a dodge.  it's not a pattern failure tho.  he told me the truck had been hit before he bought it so it was probably misaligned and he's just been slamming the piss out of it to get it to close until now.
Reply:I know what you are talking about. there is only one real fix that would be to cut the bad section out and weld in a new one. Believe me I have done some of these and the ford inter handle sheet metal. Well clean it mig it and if you can add a cover plate and weld it in also or we both know it will break again. Reply:that's the thing My mig runs on 220v power too.  that was the primary issue.  I know I can fix it but I need to know how or if I can run a 220 volt hf inverter off of 110 power.
Reply:You can't change 220 to 110. Thats why I have the HF 90amp. Why can't they bring the truck to your shop. Reply:because it's a side job.  I don't own this shop and if they bring it here they have to pay my full labor rate.  It's a favor for someone.  Plus this guy is highly plugged in socially and I could use the WOM
Reply:I have that same machine.220v only as far as I know...Maybe look into renting a machine?.. If your looking to buy this thing for long term use , well mine worked fine at first , but the arc started to get weird after only a few months/ 3 bottles of argon..
Reply:just to update I went ahead and bought the 90 amp inverter stick unit and Hooked my 17v tig torch up to it.  works like a champ.  90 amps tig will get you a long way.  I think a lot better than those little rods...  as a sidenote the first machine I got had something wrong with it.  It would pop the breaker as soon as you plug it in but I took it bak and the second one works great.  So far I couldt be more satisfied.
