What to do w/old aircompressor

I got this from a neighbor, it had sat outside his house over six months. He said the guy that gave it to him said it ran but my neighbor never did anything with it. After a half hour messing with it to get it running it started up but once at 60psi it blew a hole at a welded seam. I know once that happens theres no since in welding it since their will be more and the failure at higher pressures can be more dangerous. So my question is what to make out of it. Maybe a muffler type man for the garden? Attached Images It's not what you can buy, it's what you can build that matters
Reply:It builds pressure, so mechanically its fine. Might make a nice booster for an existing compressor if you plumb it to the existing one. Keep an eye out on craigs list and so on, you may get lucky and find a dead machine with a good tank. I had one laying around for the longest time that I used as a portable spare tank, I have no idea where it is now.The pump looks like a nice oiled cast iron pump. you might get a couple of bucks just for the motor and pump on craigs list.
Reply:Yeah, it should be fine with a new tank.Normally the motor or pump blows way before the tank, so it shouldn't be too much work to find an unwanted tank somewhere.The Welder Shop has great deals and reviews on Hobart, Miller and Lincoln Welders.
