Now before I go and take credit for other peoples work, i did not build this. This is just the kind of stuff i do. Just thought I would throw it out there to see what yall think. Everything is bent in a hebo ( German metal bending machine). None of the scrolls or anything is bought. Just a hebo and an ao torch. As said by CHENRY:you cant weld on a thingamajig like that. are you even certified to do thingamajig welding ? I once saw an improperly welded thingamajig fail and eleventy twelvoteen things got ballywhacked. I dont think i would risk it.
Reply:That's one great looking piece of excellent craftsmanship. Why do you put two cents in when its only a penny for your thoughts? Miller Thunderbolt AC/DC Millermatic 150

Reply:Now show us your work. I enjoy decorative iron but seldom do it anymore as there is no money in it around here. Everybody wants it but they don't want to pay for it, lol. For some reason they think I should be able to do the really fancy stuff for the same price as the Chinese junk at Lowes and Home Depot. The difference between art and craft is the quality of the workmanship. I am an artist.
Reply:Aint that the truth JR. I quit bending my own years ago and started buying from King. It's kept me in decorative customers, and King is a great company to work with.

Reply:I have a Hebo too- never met anybody else with one. They are really cool machines, able to do all kinds of amazing stuff. There is no question you can do it all by hand. If you are making ONE of something. I am a pretty fair blacksmith, and I can do, by hand, most of what my Hebo can do.But when you need 100, or 1000 of something, the Hebo cant be beat.We just finished this railing in Phoenix- somewhere around 800 scrolls, ranging from 8" to 24" in diameter, in 1/2" round stainless.Yep, I can make one by hand. But I would wear out right quick like trying to do 800 of em by hand. And for twisting, cold, 1" square stainless- I dont care how many Marines you got, that is no fun by hand. The Hebo will cold twist up to 1 1/2" square mild without blinking. All day long. Here is some 1 1/4" round stainless the Hebo twisted. You gotta eat a lot of cans of spinach to compete with that. You can also feed a 20 foot piece of 3/8" round into my Hebo, and get a coil spring of rings, any size up to about 9" diameter, in about a minute. With any tool, its how you use it that counts. The tool is just that- a tool. The craftsman who is using it determines whether its art, or crap.
Reply:Ries, looks like you were working on our Light Rail Project. Most likely the biggest waste of taxpayer dollars in the last 10 years. Very controversial. Glad to see you had a hand in it and hopefully made some good dollars for your efforts.
