I have one. Can someone PLEASE tell me why I can not find any old style glasses that have a lens darker than #3. The picture is from a pair I got in high school 20 years ago. I'm like the old fashioned reading glasses style and dislike the new UVEX type everyone is selling. With these I'm able to perch them on my nose and tilt my head when i hit the Oxy, but the lenses are all scratched up. And #3 is to bright for me. HELP. Reply:seems like you had to pay at least $ 50 for the ace filter, so the additional $ for the # 5 is $75, maybe..
Reply:I use Forney #55285 #5 safety glasses. ANSI Z87.1, and a few other numbers. Lookin' at a spare set in the pack I got stashed in the desk. I always keep a spare because I wear them daily for sunglasses too. Sometimes wind up losin' 'em.Price 15.49 from an ag supply. I haven't seen this syles lately, but the Forney rack has other styles that look pretty much as dark as these. Never looked at the package. Mine might be outta production."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:Pretty much the same lense style, but maybe closer to a neutral grey or what they call a neutral grey.Pair's about 3yrs. old. Like I say, might not make 'em anymore. And the color might not suit ya. Attached Images"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/

Reply:Got to thinkin' about the lense color. I can't see too good, and maybe I'm sorta color blind to some degree. Anyhow, here's the specs.Seem to work pretty good for us poor boys. Attached Images"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:At the top of the page from Broccoli's link, it says Prescription Safety Eyewear. Maybe those prices all apply to prescription lenses; down below, one of the options is Bifocals.I've always used the old 'airplane goggles' style for OA work and plasma cutting too, mostly 'cause that's what came with my Harris rig decades ago. This may not last, 'cause I've started using glasses under my hood for TIG work...Anyway, here is a link to the Forney company page with Farmersam's favorite on it: http://www.forneyind.com/glasses.cfm...afetyGlasses=2 . |
