Has anyone removed the back seat and installed tool boxes if so may I see the pictures
Reply:REALLY?????  Why????What a waste of seating.
Reply:Maybe four times someone has sat in the back seat. Presently, it is filled with bags of tools: electrical, laser, grinders, dewalt batteries, plumbing tools, dies, safety equipment, first aid kit,  a Wild T16 for layout, special tools to repair 7.3, plastic box for gloves, welding helmit, welding tools, and accumalated trash. I was hoping someone was better organized. The F350 has over 400,000 thousand miles on it. I thought I would die before it did. Gona buy a crate 7.3. Love that truck.
Reply:Cool man... I don't see any reason not to. I mean, if you never need the seating, and you need tool space, then it should work out wonderfully for you. Maybe you could take some diamond tread and come up with your own toolboxes. It could be pretty unique since you don't need to make waterproof lids for it. Go for it :-)[Account Abandoned 8/8/16 Please Do Not Attempt Contact Or Expect A Reply]. See you on YouTube! -ChuckE2009
Reply:Just remember whether all that stuff is in toolboxes or not, if your have a hard front collision or roll it, all that stuff stands a fair chance of killing you.                                                      MikeOl' Stonebreaker  "Experience is the name everyone gives to their mistakes"Hobart G-213 portableMiller 175 migMiller thunderbolt ac/dc stick Victor O/A setupMakita chop saw
Reply:I've seen people pull the rear seats out to make room for saddles and stuff that rain would harm but they can't get a camper shell b/c of a trailer, but never seen anyone build anything for back there.  The seats are held down by torx bolts (t50 or t55 are either my seats or bed bolts, can't remember) and they screw down through threaded holes through the floor pan, so they're not hard to take out.  When I do my annual scrubbing on my truck, I pull out all my seats except the drivers to driver the truck to a better vacuum and then shampoo all the carpets, it's easier sans-seats.  If I'm writing a $50,000 check for a new diesel, work truck or not, the inside gets taken care of.Last edited by texastech_diesel; 04-25-2011 at 12:15 AM.

Reply:Biggest reason to have a headache rack is to keep stuff in bed from taking your head off in a collision.I would think a built in box bolted to the floor that has slide outs would be nice.  You could have the work side of the truck usually the passanger side with slide outs for your tools and the driver side with storage for larger shelf items.  all of it enclosed so nother can be airborn.  You can set up a sliding door much like a bread box or a roll type desk.
Reply:I saw a carpenter who build a blue print rack in the back seat just behind the driver seat.  Had like 12 little horizontal compartments for the prints on each job he was working on.  They ran a 3 man crew so the rear pass seat still was there.Lincoln 300 Vantage 2008300 Commander 1999SA250 1999SA200 1968Miller Syncrowave 200XMT350MPA/S-52E/xr-15Xtreme 12vs Millermatic 251 w/30A  Millermatic 251 Dialarc 250 Hypertherm 1250 GEKA & Bantom Ironwokers
Reply:Than you guys/welders. The more eyes that look at a problem; the better the result. Saved myself a ton of money with this forum, Sunday. Good search engine. Had a stupid idea; now it is gone.
Reply:Ive seen a few cab tool racks. The ones Ive seen they just took out the seat and built  plywood shelving boxes and then jammed them with tools and supplies. Not uncommon, but I agree with the others about securing your stuff.  I always bolt my trailblazer down on all 4 corners because I dont want that thing to come through the back of the cab one day.
Reply:Two instances in my life made me post the warning.  #1- My father in law was killed when he fell asleep at the wheel of a '62 chev panel wagon and ran it into a dirt bank, stopping it instantly. The cops said he might have had a chance but for all the tools, camping, fishing, hunting gear and you name it piled in the back. It all came forward and pushed the steering column almost all the way thru him. #2- A belly dump driver was killed when he ran off the road and the truck laid over on it's left side. What killed him was the 8-D battery sitting in the passenger floor board. It landed on his head killing him instantly. The reason the battery was there was because the reg batt under the floorboard was dead that morning so they just threw the 8-D in the floor w/ some jumper cables til the reg batt could be changed.                                        MikeOl' Stonebreaker  "Experience is the name everyone gives to their mistakes"Hobart G-213 portableMiller 175 migMiller thunderbolt ac/dc stick Victor O/A setupMakita chop saw
