hey now....i was just looking at product videos for mig/flux welders (i like stick, but the grass is always greener on the other side) and in most of the youtube videos i saw there was very little vertical up or over head welding. it was all flat horizontal welds. some guy laying a piece of metal or aluminum on a table, laying it flat and welding what he had to.is flux core/mig/tig not as good as stick for vertical up or horiztonal welds?im talking about clean spotless mild steel. no rust or paint to weld through.the grand ol' opry aint so grand anymoremiller maxstar 150sworking on an oxy/acet set up
Reply:I don't know why the vid's aren't made of that. Mig, tig ( and probably FC as well) welds are done in all positions everyday just like stick. Done right, they all produce excelent welds..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:I think its harder, 6010/1 vertical up is super easy and really strong, and running 7018 isnt bad either, especially with a weave. I havent really tried v up with mig very much, but I think its way harder.[Account Abandoned 8/8/16 Please Do Not Attempt Contact Or Expect A Reply]. See you on YouTube! -ChuckE2009
Reply:take a gander on Jody's site. He has some good vids and tips for vert up with migwww.weldingtipsandtricks.com
Reply:fcaw is cake. if you can run a _good_ uphill with smaw, you shouldnt have that much trouble. Especially a fillet. Running 232 when there are miles of verticals to weld is like a godsend. one. long. pass. and your done.Weldanpower 225 G7Ironworkers Local #24 |
