I got these 2 things out of my buddy's grandfather's barn and have no idea what they can be...they are very old...could anyone please help..thanks a bunch
Reply:The first look like a press. It threads onto something and the screw is turned to sperate the items. I have one similar for removing bicycle cranks from the spindle--the thread are mail however.

Reply:The #2 item looks like a govenor to me check pic#4 those 3 dime size disks look like gov. weights and the disk on the same shaft looks like disc brake because on the lever it has a small pad and that lever is spring loaded ANY MORE HELP Bob sr.

Reply:Could we get a closeup of the name/wording on that side? Is there any such lettering on the other side? Any patent dates shown?It's clearly a governor but for what? An elevator? A mineshaft hoist? Lots of possibilities, I guess.
Reply:Well,....according to an old friend: .." Picture #1 is a wheel puller, picture #2 is a power unit out of an old Victrola spring powered record player,." John wouldn't say that if he weren't pretty sure; he's worked on lots of stuff over the decades. That would also make sense to me, as the power spring would be inside the drum unit. |
