hey guys, just want a few opinions. I Just basically repair motorcycles. Im currently looking at getting a used miller diversion. I know it does aluminum and steel, i believe it only goes up to a 1/4 inch.I dont know what else is out there that is cheap and I dont think ill have to go very deep for anything on a bike. Any suggestions  or other brands would be great.
Reply:Tig mig or stick? The diversion looks like a neat little entry level tig. I would say more like max 3/16 steel and with some good joint prep 3/16 AL. What kind of machine are you looking for?HTP Invertig 201Lincoln Idealarc SP250Miller 180 AC StickBy farmall:They should have held the seagull closer to the work, squeezing evenly for best deposition.
Reply:Yea tig sorry I'm just a motorcycle mechanic. So really I'm don't think I would ever need anything to big or powerful. Is the diversion a good machine? Is there a cheaper way to get started without going Chinese thanks again
Reply:If the used Diversion falls through, look at the Hobart Ez-Tig it's a little less than the miller but still a good entry level machine.  If you have a little more coin you might look at the used Dynasty and Synchrowaves in your area on CL and Feebay.  Just saw a used miller 330A/Bp for a rightous price if your in Cali.. Freight would be a killer on a machine like that, but you will never max it out.BobI'm spending my Kids inheritance, I dont like him that much anyway!!!!!!Enuff tools to do the job, enough sense to use em.Anybody got a spare set of kidneys?  Trade?
Reply:I work on motorcycles all the time.A TIG welding machine is best for that that type of work.I would get a syncrowave 200 minimum. Many motorcycles have aluminum parts now.Not many welding repairs on motorcycles but they do come up from time to time. You will need a good TIG welding machine and skill.AWS certified welding inspectorAWS certified welder
Reply:Yea I usually get beaters and fix them so there in dire straits. I'm gonna have to get a diversion then move up to a syncrowave. Thanks for all the help. I check eBay and craigs all the time I'm sure I'll find Somthin soon
Reply:One thing about the older Tig machines like the 330 miller is they are S wave not Square wave TIG.   Don't know how much of a difference that makes.   The 33o does have adjustable high frequency and also can do 1/2 or full wave.   I haven't started to learn TIG on mine yet so can't tell ya what that all means though.Tiger Sales:  AHP Distributor    www.tigersalesco.comAHP200x; AHP 160ST; MM350P,  Spoolmatic 30A; Everlast PowerTig 185; Thermal Dynamics 60i plasma.  For Sale:  Cobra Mig 250 w/ Push-pull gun.  Lincoln Wirematic 250
