Well .. I think this is my best so far ..  Critiques are welcome .. The end of the weld ... well I'm not sure what to do about it with the currentsetup. ( no pun intended )  I have no foot pedal , YET ..  I am going to buy one and wire it in.But at this point I have no good way to kill the arc and leave gas in the weld pool .. which I am assuming is leaving the dimple??? yes? This sure does take alot of practice .. Unbrushed Version:Brushed / cleaned versionI guess you will have to click the thumbnails .. Sorry .. I will get a photobucket account and post from there.Does remind me alot of brazing ... Oh yeah .. also .. this is thicker metal then I am supposed to do with my machine , but have lots of it .. even though I have to mill the paint off .. at least its a clean surface LOL   and it is with filler ... Thanks as always for everyones thoughts and assistance.Last edited by Lanmanb4; 08-05-2006 at 05:16 PM.
Reply:But at this point I have no good way to kill the arc and leave gas in the weld pool .. which I am assuming is leaving the dimple??? yes?yup that leaves the dimple...just tap the trigger at the end and dip more filler and build a little hill...bty there are no pics...?all there is is a little box with a x in the middle......zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:I see the pictures on mine now .. Hope they showing up now Zapster. And thanks for the input..  I dont have a trigger on the torch either .. Yeah know though, if I like this ok .. and seem tobe getting the hang of it .. I will probably get an HTP or Miller , Hobart TIG ..

Reply:nope no pics yet..if you look where you posted where you started the thread do you see a paperclip on the far end?that means attachment and theres none here even after refreshing the page...well me and mrs zap are going to "cruse nite" in both of the falcons..i'll be back later......zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:Cruise nite? Falcons?
Reply:well i guess we can "hijack" your own thread for a bit..mrs zap has a '66 falcon futura 4 dr we restored in 2002.was the centerspread feature in the "falcon club of america" magazine..aug 2003i bought a '63 falcon convert show car when we brought the wifes car to the show..so in essence...i went to a car show and came home with a show car...now back to welding... ...zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:aaaah  very good .. Are the pictures showing up now , even though you have to click on them to get the bigger picture .. lol I did find a way to help that dimple a little .. at the end of the bead , when I am ready to stop the weld .. I quickly rotate the torch counterclockwise so the tungsten would be parallelto the workpiece and as soon as the arc goes out I quickly rotate it back clockwise so the remaining gas is going back on the weld ..  doesnt get rid of it completely .. but helps a fair amount .. I am getting used to seeing the weld pool , moving it , etc ..  which is good.and I have run several beads practicing without accidently dipping the tungsten in the weld pool .. I welded a .250" T Butt weld ... but hard to get enough heat with this 130 A TIG , so there is undercut .. even though I did get some filler to flow into the weld.    Its mostly for pratice ..  I know I shouldnt do that in the real world .. I do heat the metal with the torch at the start  a bit before I start walking across ... but you can only do so much .. I can put a picture of it on here ... if you think its worth looking at .. plus I do have some practice beads I can put up pictures of ... though I do need to get that account at photobucket.com   I never had problems putting URL's in here from Webshots before ..  Do you know of places to purchase foot pedals? I saw one ..  but more is always better. lol Randy
Reply:why photowhatever.. i just dump mine in the 'puter and resize them in paint..save to "c" drive in "weldweb pics" and upload from your own 'puter..its real easy..if i can do it you can... ...zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:Upload to where? is there a place to upload them on weldingweb.com?I have more to post ..

Reply:when you reply to someone...scroll way down to the bottom of the page..there is a "manage attachments" button..make sure your "pop up stopper" is off...find pics and upload...there is a "stickey" in gen questions about uploading pics......zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:excuse me...the "stickey" is in the pics and projects page.. i sowwy...zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

Reply:ok now back to the pics...they look ok..you need to be a little more steady with your torch...sit down and get really comfy...when your gonna weld something..before you start make sure you have complete range of motion without getting hung up on anything..do a "dry run" or as i call it a "dress rehersal"..go thru what you wanna weld with no arc... just to make sure that everything is smooth......zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:ok thanks ... I cut a piece of that .250" and milled the ends square and then also milled a "channel " into the ends so that when I weld it .... it will be about .150" which is more in range for the welder ..    I suppose I could try that with a "T" joint and maybe with an overlapping joint too ..  its alot of milling ...  but I guess its one more reason to do it right the first time ..  who was it that said that on here ... hmmmm zapster perhaps?? LOL ...Hey Zap .. on the foot pedal ...  is it wired like a car in the sense of more downward pressure = more welding current??   I guess it makes sense it would be ..   Would you use a .062 or .093 electrode for 130 Amps?  Or does it depend onwhat the application is .. ???Randy ..
