Pics of my latest project, a $100 TIG cooler. The Bernard pump & motor - ebay -$65Condenser coil - ebay - $20Outlet Box - Home Depot - $5Tank - Donated SalvageI started out by sectioning 7-1/2 from the tank and welding it back together.  Plugged the holes from it's former owner, then some sanding and paint.Everything else was from stuff I had laying around my garage. Reply:Upside down glass sediment bowl, Well I'll be......Nice job.  You might want a bigger fan. Like an aftermarket one for a car.  They mount with a type of Zip Tie.David Real world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:looks good ChuckASME Pressure Vessel welder
Reply:Thanks,I measured a 1 degree temperature drop across the condenser with the pancake fan and shroud I built for the condenser coil.  This was without a real load on the system.  I was determined to keep this at $100 or less and I had this 110 volt pancake fan lying around for a long time. The inverted sediment bowl is from Bernard.  This unit is OLD.  It was still in the original packaging and box when I got it.  All documentation from Bernard, parts lists, etc. were in the box.  Some of the packaging material was crumpled newspapers dated August 1980.Hopefully it will keep things cool enough so I won't need to change fans.  It has 3-1/2 gallons of distilled water and a bottle of Rapid Cool in the tank.  Oh yeah, and a capful of algaecide to discourage algae growth.H2Os50

Reply:Geez Duane, I never thought of that, and I'm sittin' here thinkin' about all of the radiators on the tractors/trucks.  Same thing.I suppose it's why exhausing air from the house, to cool it, is more efficient than trying to blow cooler air in.  Exhaust pulls thru every open window, while pushing air in only cools maybe one room."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:Very niceI like seeing shop built coolers like that weld it like you own it
