tried to weld new 1/2" cutting edge to worn 1/2 cutting edge on bobcat skidsteer loader bucket i believe metal is tempered/hardend using stick welder with Stoody 19 rod  . made 5 tack welds, weld looked good ,went to get drink came back and new cutting edge was loose the weld stuck to new edge but pulled out of old edge
Reply:What your trying to do isn't going to work. the first issue is the wrong welding rod the old cutting edge needs to come off & a new one put on but if you don't know the procudre & have the equipment it would be better to have it done by someone who does.
Reply:depending on the blade, they may have some chrome in it. be careful, they will crack forcefully, dang near like an explosion. also, to weld on these you need to preheat to 250 and post cool with and old piece of leather over the weld. your best bet is to bolt through the two blades. i run heavy equipment for a living and it's easier to just bolt the new blade on and tach the nuts down with a 7018. i generally keep the old blades to cut up and use in other high wear areas, ie the side of the bucket and so forth. put the new blade on and keep the spare to use in other places on the bucket.i know that changing the bucket is time consuming and expensive. here are some pics of my operation. believe me i know your pain. every part of my outfit has wear parts, hard facing and such. Reply:thats the vulcan quarry in atlanta. we were crushing for ER Snell asphalt down there. We recycle asphalt and concrete. those guys were a pain in the butt on blast days. pack up and pull off the job. it was funny, they were blasting down there when one of those GA thunderstorms fell into the quarry while they were filling holes with charge. hehehe lightning bolts landing all around us. we just hauled but in the loaders."Retreat hell, were just fighting in the other direction"Miller Trailblazer 302, Extreme 12 VS, Dimension 400, Spectrum 375, HF 251D-1, Milermatic 251 w/ spoolgun  Hypertherm 1000Lincoln sp 1702000 F-450 to haul it
