One of our customers was in need of a portable mixer for his resins. So here is what we came up with. It's difficult to tell, but the mixer is about 1 inch above the floor when all the way down. The control box is a variable speed control for the motor which is direct drive. I had to modify the P.T.O. coupler from the mixer to the spider coupler connected to the motor. It has a DC pump so we threw a battery box on it when it is mobile. There are pockets under the frame for a forklift. There was quite a bit of time on this project only because of clearance and cylinder throw issues. Once that was worked out, things moved along pretty fast.-Mike Attached ImagesCommon sense in an uncommon degree is what the world calls wisdom.
Reply:Looks good. Nice job and I'd imagine fit and clearance was a bit if a juggling act.Is the drive still mains powered, or does it also run off the battery pack? Does it need to be operated whilst still on the forks, to prevent overbalancing, or is the resin mix lighter than say concrete?Good array of customers, from this one to a horses head door knocker. Reply:How come the equipment y'all build looks like art, and mine looks..................well, like equipmentHydraulic cylinders are one of the hardest things to plan for. Clearances, and swing, are critical. There's a lot of movement in a simple arc. Amazing how a simple thing can wind up putting the eylinder in a bind.I do it to scale with pen and paper before I ever cut one piece of steel. Cuts the stress.Very nice job."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:Brian:I really enjoy metal fabrication pics. Thanks (you too Samm). Did you use a CAD program to help or are you old fashioned like Samm; using a pen (pencil and large eraser for me, thanks) and paper? How do you suppose he keeps that barrel clean? Kicked resin won't chip out like cement, nor is it 'practicably' soluble. (lots of acetone)FWIW: I can only spell CAD, not use it.
