Does anyone know if the take off on the back off a F163 crankshaft differs from a Lincoln SA 200 to a Miller Big 20? Did they use the same crankshaft? Or see any problems that one would have swapping the motor?
Reply:Well, I think I know what the SA 200 crankshaft is about. Does anyone have a Miller Big 20 w/ the engine seperated from the generator, or an armature shaft laying around. If so maybe we can compare measurements.
Reply:I just thought I'd bring the question up again. I've got a sa 200 w/ a bad motor and a good generator. I've also got a big 20 w/ bad generator and a good motor. I'd like to know what obstacles there may be in the swap ??
Reply:This is something I've wondered about too, but only because I didn't have a Big 20 in hand and wasn't willing to buy one on speculation.Sounds like there's no reason why you shouldn't pull the two apart and find out for yourself, if neither of them works as is. If the Big 20 engine has a distributor you'll probably lose the ability to crank-start on the SA 200. You'll want to know whether they both ran at the same RPM - if not, you'll either have to adjust governors or swap parts.
Reply:I would sure think the back of the crank is the same. I would guess you'll have to use the adapter plate off the SA-200, and maybe even switch flywheels. Here is a link to a situation I ran into with different year SA-200s. http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=54126Dont pay any attention to meIm just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400 |
