Heres one of those real world welding jobs that David talks about. Although there was little welding, mostly torch and grinder work. This trailer came in from the local phone co. and they wanted everthing cut off down to the deck and lights put back on and working. Here's the way it showed up. Attached Images
Reply:And here it is after 8 hrs. of torch work, grinding, and painting. The only welding was putting the light brackets on behind fenders. Attached Images
Reply:Nice job. Did they say what it had been used for and the reason for the strip-down?MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:I want the chair behind the ladder, and the bucket. Just kidding. Exellent torch work. Looks clean like they asked for including the mount for the spare tire. I wonder if they thought of that?

Reply:It looks like very slow, careful, work with no burnthroughs. Sometimes the Oxygen stream goes in unexpected directions when cuttin' old stuff off, and it ignites and burns steel in unintended places. It's a matter of ticklin' the O2.Bet you were glad when it was done."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:I did burn a couple of holes in the deck and had to weld them up and grind them back down. I used a scarffing tip for the cutting on the deck. It's good to have one on hand for jobs like this. They said the trailer was designed to hold 4 generators and a fuel tank, but it wasn't enough trailer. Well duhhh. I don't know what they intend to do with it now.

Reply:Nice work. Did you quote that job Time and Material, Lump Sum or Not to Exceed?Just curious as to how you went about quoting.Thanks.
Reply:You wouldn't even know it was touched.
Reply:I just work these jobs by the hour. They are regular customers and never even ask how much, only how long. They always want every thing done asap. And I know from experience that it will be 60 days till I get paid. I usually add a couple of hours for jump out your butt, put it ahead of other jobs pay and late payment charge.
Reply:most companies now days are in the sixty day cycle. well except illinois which is 500 days behind. the old thirty day cycle is pretty much history. |
