I have a project that is welding 304 1/4 hard stainless steel wire together. The wire is 3/8, 5/16  and 1/4 diameter. The drawings call for fillet welds. The ends of all of the wires are cut square. The welds are 90 degree T and 45 degree.Does not have to be polished.  The welds are out of sight.  They just keep the ends of wire secure.I presently weld carbon steel wire together but this is the first time I have tried to make this project with stainless steel. What welding wire do I need and what gas to MIG?   And is there anything I need to know that is different from welding the carbon steel vs Stainless steel.Carbon steel with carbon steel welding wire vsStainless steel with stainless steel welding wire
Reply:.035 304 wire and argon co2 mix will work and it going to warp stainless moves more than carbon steelChuckASME Pressure Vessel welder

Reply:I need to explain a little better. We mig weld 1/8 carbon steel wire now.  with no problems.  We use .035 welding wire. The 1/4, 5/16 and 3/8 are large sizes to me.The welds are more of a tack than a bead. When we weld the T it is welded just where the wires meet. That is why we want to mig.  It is faster.Warpage will not be a problem for this part. The same with the wires meeting at a 45 degree.  I will weld both sides.Actually it is wire not rod.  Rod is made from hot rolled material.  Wire is rod that  has been drawn through a die.  This is drawn wire.  We purchase this wire is 2000 pound rolls. So you think that I should use 308 .035 and tri mix or argon co2?
