Hey guys!! Well, ive been running c25 with. 035 solid wire in my hobart 187 that i bought last fall. Im about out of gas, and i dont know if i want to get more. A trip to the "local" welding supply means a trip to the city, about two hours in traffic round trip, and a visit to the "bad" side of town.I get literally everything i need from the nearest tsc or off the internet, except for gas. Ive been thinking about it, and i think ill just change over to fcaw. Almost everything i do is on farm equiptment, etc. Things where strenght is more important than apperence. I dont think ive ever touched anything less than 1/8" anyway.Lincoln innershield is way cheaper than wire+c25+gasoline/time. But, what would i need to run it in my 187? I know i need a liner, i kinked myoriginal one by bending it in ways that i shouldnt. But what about drive wheels, etc? Im gonna be running .045 since according to the cover in the machine, i dont have to run the machine very high as compared tothe other sizes, so im assuming thati can run on heavier material or run longer without cooling. Thanks guys [Account Abandoned 8/8/16 Please Do Not Attempt Contact Or Expect A Reply]. See you on YouTube! -ChuckE2009
Reply:You'll want to be sure and get one of the multi-pass T11 versions of whatever brand. You will be running at lower ipm but that doesn't mean lower amps by any means. Bigger wire simply provides more amps per ipm than smaller wires. Won't have any affect on your duty cycle one way or the other unless you run at currents higher than you normally would with a .035 flux core. The Hobart .045 runs roughly 1 amp per ipm so that means at 100 ipm you'd be about 100ish in amps provided you have an acceptable voltage. I'm not sure you can easily guess just what your ipm is at any given setting with your machine tho shy of doing a real time measurement.  The .045 flux core is what you want for farm & ranch tho."The things that will destroy America are prosperity at any price, peace at any price, safety first instead of duty first, the love of soft living and the get rich quick theory of life." -Theodore Roosevelt
Reply:What is a multi-pass t11 wire? I dont know much about fcaw welding, but i do wanna learn...Thanks for your input, i didnt know that. I just looked through my manuel, and there is no chart for converting the wfs on the machine to ipm. Kinda frustrating.[Account Abandoned 8/8/16 Please Do Not Attempt Contact Or Expect A Reply]. Reply:Yes, so does ours, but they wont touch any privatly owned cylinders except ones bought from them. I wish things were different tho, they are way closer than the lws plus they have better service and lower prices. It would be nice to have some diversity going on tho, almost all my welding stuff is grey. I run hobart electrodes on my hobart welders while wearing hobart gloves lol. It feels aittle ridiculous sometimes. This wire ill order offline. The lincoln stuff plus shipping is way cheaper than the hobart stuff from tsc[Account Abandoned 8/8/16 Please Do Not Attempt Contact Or Expect A Reply]. See you on YouTube! -ChuckE2009
Reply:Go by the spec when buying your wire rather than getting hung up on manufacturer pet names like "innersheild" and you'll be okay. The E70T-GS wires are not required to meet multipass specs. Yeh some dealers are going to tell you that this here wire is the same as ______ or made by ____ or this tastes just like chicken but the fact remains that the -GS wires haven't been certified for multipass. The E(R)70-T11 wires are multipass, with some limitations, but still multipass. So whatever brand and/or label wire you buy make sure it says E(R)70T-11 and you'll be good to go. So E70T-11 or ER70T-11 are the one and the same."The things that will destroy America are prosperity at any price, peace at any price, safety first instead of duty first, the love of soft living and the get rich quick theory of life." -Theodore Roosevelt
Reply:Thanks sandy!!So with multipass fc, you just pound the slag off and run another bead, just like 7018?[Account Abandoned 8/8/16 Please Do Not Attempt Contact Or Expect A Reply]. See you on YouTube! -ChuckE2009

Reply:If you're going to run much Innershield it'd be nice to pickup a serrated drive roll. I know nothing about the Hobart 187, so not sure if they even offer serrated drive rolls for it. If not, just remember to keep the gun / whip straight as possible!Don’t pay any attention to meI’m just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400
