I fired up the MM 252 today and the wire didn't feed evenly.  I haven't use it for a couple of months.  It worked all right the last time I used it.  I increased roller pressure  quite a bit and that didn't help a lot.  Should I completely disassemble the M 25 gun?  Take out the liner and blow everything out?Any advise will be appreciated. Thanks,Jack
Reply:I'd start by checking your roll tension. If its too loose it will do that for sure.Every time the rollers start pulling the roll it will free-wheel and unravel a little bit, rolling to a stop. When the rollers feed the loose wire (slack) and start to pull on the roll again it will jerk and cause an erratic feed. It's a chain reaction that will repeat as long as the trigger is pulled.Hope this helps!Measure twice, cut once.Millermatic 211Millermatic 251Miller Dynasty 200DXESAB O/A Set-up

Reply:Look to see if you may have a bit of rust on your wire. I had a very slight rust feel to my wire and it caused me all sorts of feed headaches. I played with feed roll tension, blew the liner out, replaced the contact tip, and anything else I could think of and still had feed problems. I ended up stripping the rusty wire off, blowing out the liner again and when I put it back together it worked like it is supposed to. I have not had any feed problems since.Just a little bit of crud on the wire seems to be all it takes to cause erratic feed.Mark
Reply:You most likely have some surface rust on your wire. Check the wire surface very closely to see if there is any rust showing on it. If there is any, remove as much wire as necessary to get down to the clean wire. Then clean your drive rollers and liner before re-threading the wire up to the gun. Also check the wire spool tension to be sure that it isn't too tight or too loose. There should be just enough tension to stop the spool when you let up on the trigger, but not so much that it causes drag on the feeder.CharleyMiller MM252Miller Bobcat 225NTMiller DialArc HF / DIY Cooler2 Victor O/A TorchsetsMilwaukee 8" Metal SawMilwaukee Dry Cut "Chop" Saw 5 Ton Wallace Gantry Various Grinders, Benders, etc.
Reply:I took everything apart and wiped and blew everything and it seems ok now. Thanks,Jack
Reply:Congrats on finding a solution. If in the future you start feeling a slight vibration while the wire is feeding, your liner might be getting worn and if you start seeing polished spots on the flat part of the feed rolls it means the two rolls are touching each other and that groove is worn out. Time to switch grooves or buy new feed rolls.Millermatic 200Hobart Handler 120Victor O/A & Ramco BandsawLincoln 225 ACSnapOn AD HoodMiller XMT304/22AHypertherm Powermax 1650 G3Lincoln Idealarc DC600 w/Extreme 12 VSMiller Digital Elite "Joker"
