Hi everyone.Just started to welding stuff and got some troubles. Want to do some reeinforcements for a car.1st - when welding some try-out pieces cutted from an old hood i found out that the electrode is hard to iniciate. As i needed to set the machine almost for minimum power (55A) to avoid doing holes in the pices it seemed even harder to get the electrode melting. It seems thicker electrodes and low power makes it harder.2nd - How can i weld thick parts (like 3mm iron tubes) to pieces like the ones i discribed before (about 1mm or less) and get a good penetration on the tube without making a hole in the thin pieces?Sorry for my english ****...wrong place to post this.
Reply:i would'nt say this is the wrong place to post this question..but welding body panels/sheet metal is next to impossible with a stick welder...no matter how good you are......zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

Reply:I made the sheets stick to each other, just looks like crap.Maybe ill just save and get a Mig to do a proper job.Meanhile ill practice with the stick doing a table. Thanks for your help.
Reply:the thinest i have welded with a stick was exaust pipe and it was new pipe and 3/64 6013 i think ac
Reply:i think you are flogging a dead horse with the stick machine you really need to use a mig or oxy/accetalene
