Reply:Worm122:Are the tubes something commercial, I haven't seen them before? (sheltered hobby guy). It appears that they're at least 2 different lengths, the joints are at different heights. Any reason for that? Thanks, Craig.9-11-2001......We Will Never ForgetRetired desk jockey. Hobby weldor with a little training. Craftsman O/A---Flat, Vert, Ovhd, Horz. Miller Syncrowave 250
Reply:Those rod holders appear to be made by a company called "ROD GAURD". They supply a variety different size tubes anywhere from 48" to 14" (stick electrodes). You can also order replacement seals & caps down the road! The retail price is around $40.00 a tube, but you might be able to get them cheaper from a distributor .My rod is hot, and it penetrates deep.
Reply:Nice job...The tubes look like they are on different levels. looks like there is a piece on metal the backs the cylinder a couple inches high. see there the bolt is at the bottom. Just a guess there.
Reply:Tig Rod holders are about $25.00 each I think. The two rod holder holes closest to the machine are factory the rod holders are sitting on the rear axle of the machine that is why they are taller than the rear two which are sitting on the tank platform.Donnelly Small Engine & WeldingFoley AlabamaLincoln 225 TigLinoln 215 migHypertherm Powermax 65Ellis 1600 sawEllis 6000 belt grinderJD2 Model 4 tubing benderAtlas 12"X54" metal latheLots of large hammers
Reply:I prefer a horizontal mounted holder, so I can stick half length rods in and they don't fall to the bottom. If you take a piece of pipe that's a little bigger than the tubes you buy from the welding supply, cut rings about 1" long from it, and tack them to the bottom of your table top, your wire is right where you need it most, yet not in the way of anything.Proud to be a UNION worker.
