House trailer frame made into trailer.

I was wondering if a house trailer frame would be suitable to cut down and make a trailer. Frame is supposed to be 10' X 60'. would cut down and make 1-5' X 10' trailer out of it. Should have enough steel to easily double up on everything. Frame is 60 miles away and am wondering if it is worth it. Anticipating hauling riding mowers and occasional firewood on it. Yeas or nays? Thanks for any advice.
Reply:Most of ‘em are a special really wimpy "I" that's much lighter than a Junior Beam, mostly depending on the house for strength.Although for a light short trailer it'd probably do.But... 120 mile ride for a long, flexing, bouncing, stripped chassis and them dealing with the trailer's lightweight beam and its tall web and the  extra reinforcement it's gonna need... Reply:60 miles does not seem very far....here in the middle of Texas... If you could figure out where you were going to want to cut it....and they had a way to stack the cut off section on the front part... I would sure go get it.. but I would not try to pull it with it in one piece due to the huge overhang aspect...   I have one here I am in the process of figuring out how to utilize... it was burned so parts of the I beams are not totally straight.... I am hoping to make it into a portable band saw mill....Weldandpower Lincoln 225 AC,DC with Briggs 16hp gas engine.WW2 era Miller TIG.

Reply:Denrep is correct about the I-beams, and the axles are pure junk. They might make very nice fence posts though. Steel is always reusable, but is it worth your time? The return from the frame metal may not yield stellar results, because it is very thin.Scrap value might not be too bad. City of L.A.
