Hi,I would like to weld a aluminium channel on a 2x2 0.120 tubing. The length of the tubing and the channel are 20' For the moment the channel is spot welded on the tubing but I would like to have a full weld on 20'. What is  the pattern (method) to do this job? It is certainly not a good idea to start at one end and finished at the other. I use Mig process.Thank for you help
Reply:No answers?  Description very poor.We would need a drawing or a photo. No purpose mentioned.Tubing can be round OR square. I cannot visualize this project or its purpose. Please try again.AWS certified welding inspectorAWS certified welder
Reply:you seem to understand that a single 20' weld would leaad to warpage..so pick a pattern that wont..make a mark every 2 feet....start at the first one and weld 6"..go to the last one and weld 6"..go to the middle one and weld 6"..when you do those three post a foto and well tell you what to do next..lol..
Reply:Like DB said, a sketch or photo would go a long way.Not sure I understand completely but dong a bit of reading between the lines so here goes.Do as WB said, step your weld, prebending opposite the suspected direction of pull will go a long way toward helping as well.....Mike
