Here is one of the first things I have made with my tubing bender. It is a golf ball race track. It is to help with the concepts of Potential - Kinetic Energy and Acceleration. I do not have the slow down/uphill ramp shown. Kind of cool the grey ramp in picture 1 (close to the camera) wins the drag race. But because they all have the same Potential Energy (and kinetic energy) they all reach the same height on the slow down/uphill ramp. This surprises students. All I did to make the contraption was to bend the tubing and then cut the tubing in half with my harbor freight band saw Attached Images

Reply:You know Reebs, the last time I read about one of your 'science projects', I spent a good chunk of that semesters homework time building my own scaled down seige engine......and now a golfball accelerator? This has got to stop! Just kiddin', nice demo, but my guess would have been the center track...hmmm...! City of L.A. Reply:I love it!! Check out the seige engine on NOVA/PBS it is cazy. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/lostempires/trebuchet/http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/lostemp...t/destroy.htmlThey all have the same speed when they get to the bottom. The winner "launches" or accelerates to the top speed quicker. Due to its steep angle.
Reply:I kin see where this's goin'. We'll all be tryin' to build bombards nextThink OSHA's bad, wait till ya get ATF on yer azz"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/ |
