I recently acquired a Hodco 100 amp DC Tig welder. It runs on 110V power, has high frequency and a 60% duty cycle. It did not come with a torch, foot pedal or ground wire. I also need a gas regulator and Argon cylinder.I have not been able to find much information on Hodco.Does any one know where I can find schematics or spares?Does any one know of a compatible 5 pin (only three pins wired up) foot pedal? Thanks for the help.
Reply:Never heard of Hodco. If you can find a schematic you may be able to determine what potentiometers is required for the remote current control and then find out what different Miller/Thermal Arc/Lincoln/etc. foot pedal also uses this potentiometer. Also, the foot control may use the same potentiometer as the front panel control on your machine.
Reply:I learned a little bit about Hodco today.Evidently these welders were made by a man named Hodge. He repaired welders and when there was a need for a 110 volt DC TIG, he was one of the first to make one.He used mostly off the shelf replacement parts to build his welders, so parts should be easy to find if I can identify them.Unfortunately for Hodge, Miller started making a superior machine and Hodco couldn't compete.Hodge died some time ago, schematics may be an impossibility.Luckily I got this information from a welding shop that had actually heard of Hodco. Now for the bad news, the cheap chinese torch I got on ebay does not have current control, just a remote contactor and the fitting on the cable is not standard. It's going to take some work to adapt it and I still am stuck on square one for a pedal.
Reply:you might try SCS they make controles for about every one. you may also be able to get an adapter to make the torch work. most torches do mot have curent controles built in, thats what a foot controle or a finger controle that ataches to the torch is for.good luck summer is here, plant a tree for mother earth. if you dont have time or space, sponcer some one else to plant one for you.feel free to shoot me a PM or e-mail me at [email][email protected] i got lots of time.
Reply:Just picked up one of these on ebay! Will send pics if you need them. |
