I got my Miller Welding Calculators in the mail today.Cannot believe what a very nice little packet these are in and how well they are put together for a measly $4.00 and no shipping charge!!Now, to my question; I am assuming these are pretty accurate but are generally just a guide? If anyone who reads this are interested in these here is the link to order them:http://www.millerwelds.com/resources/tools/#calculators
Reply:Those calculators are great to get you close, but your projects will vary slightly from time to time and your settings will need adjustment.I'm glad that you cared enough to get a set for yourself. I suggest these constantly but for some reason people feel that they aren't necessary or are too good to be true. The short money spent on them will save you from TONS of aggravation in the future.Post some pics of your projects, if you can.Measure twice, cut once.Millermatic 211Millermatic 251Miller Dynasty 200DXESAB O/A Set-up
Reply:Also keep in mind every machine is different. What your machine says it's set at may not be exactly correct, and you may have to make adjustments to compensate. Also each welder's technique is a bit different. That also has an effect on where you would set a machine to get the results you are looking for..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:DSW nailed it, the machine can make a huge difference. esp if you go from a transformer to an inverter or engine driven, pure DC welder engine welder etc... Your machine is a transformer but has a very nice arc. compared to say a thunderbolt or buzz box.... I find the biggest variations to be in mig welding. the stick guide is pretty accurate. The brand of electrode can make a big difference.Tiger Sales: AHP Distributor www.tigersalesco.comAHP200x; AHP 160ST; MM350P, Spoolmatic 30A; Everlast PowerTig 185; Thermal Dynamics 60i plasma.
