Which pic do you think is the nicest bead of the month.  This is my vote: Originally Posted by MikeGyverugh.... :facepalm:Here's why you're wrong. If you actually use the datasheet correctly you'll see a volt/amp curve on the bottom of page 2. The graph clearly shows it's more like 18v. Keep the arc tight and it will do 150amps.115v x 26.4A = 3036VA (NOT watts)135A x 18v = 2430 wattsNo, the output is not more than the input, so yes it "is possible".Here is a weld I just did 10 minutes ago for you. 1/8" 7018 plugged in to a 20amp 120v line in my garage. Now you tell me, does this look like 100amps (which probably wouldn't even burn 1/8" 7018)?
Reply:Looks very nice to me.... but as good as several people are on here.... I don't know if I could vote for just one ' best bead ' of any month.....How about ' have not seen any better beads this month ' ?Weldandpower Lincoln 225 AC,DC with Briggs 16hp gas engine.WW2 era Miller TIG.
Reply:How about a "This is no good" bead of the month contest..Anyway..How can you judge mig over tig over stick? This contest is FIXED! ...zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:' This bead is no good'  contest... would have TOO MANY entries...the mind would boggle...as Kelly on Married with Children used to say...Weldandpower Lincoln 225 AC,DC with Briggs 16hp gas engine.WW2 era Miller TIG.
Reply:Is there a thread that has a contest each month or something?Read my welding blog:http://weldeveryday.wordpress.com/
Reply:Those are pretty welds, but does everybody believe they were done with a 115V welder ? I used one a few years ago and they suggested nothing bigger than a 1/16 6013 rod because the voltage was so low that the 6013 rod was about the only thing that would give you a stable arc and then only if it was a 1/16 rod. Has anybody seen a 115 volt welder that could weld like the pictures ? If you have please let me know where I can get one.
Reply:I'm not buying it 6010. How ya been? Haven't seen you  here for awhile.
Reply:Seen another place was thinking to make a "Wall of Shame", would be good for a yuk or two.

Reply:Originally Posted by Broccoli1I would guess he has a Maxstar or similar Inverter machine that runs on either 120v or 240v- and he was using 120v input for this demo those Inverters do work quite well on 120v Power. My Passport runs much better than my Lincoln Sp135 on 120v Power.
Reply:the bead looks good but i wonder why i dont see any heat signatures on the steel.......
Reply:Hi daddy. I am still here just a little bit slower. Fully retired and right now in the Carolina sun, during this heat wave, I think I am about " well done". I spent a couple of hours with a chain saw yesterday and it didn't take long to realize it is the wrong time of year to be using one of those. Thanks for the pictures Matt. I didn't think about an inverter when I first read that post. Not being a welder by trade, I really didn't realize inverters ( welders) had been around that long. I knew they had been used in AC and DC motor drives for many years but didn't know about the welders. 2495.00 doesn't sound like that much until you think about what the pay was back then  That welder must be a good one to still be kicking after all these years.
