Here are some pics of what I've been doing to the shop. Finish the wall coverings and electrical. Added Hardware for the sliding door and worked on the frame for the door. Added a 30 amp outlet and redid wiring on the 50 amp box used for "Ol' Reliable". Attached Images

Reply:now all that was up tight on all my wood work - I told ya I had a welder - just took some time to get to the stage where I could use it. New stuff hasnt arrived yet...waiting on the stimulas package!!! jt
Reply:It looks like it's gonna wind up to be a great place to spend a LOT of time.Holes for wire runs properly drilled in the neutral point of the rafters"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:I wish I could get into the habit of cleaning up the metal at the weld joints before I weld. It doesn't seem to be much of a problem with stick, but plays hell with a wire welder.  I made some flux core welds today that positively sucked.  Had the metal been clean I wouldn't of had arc outages, and other bad stuff goin' on.  I hardly ever use the wire welder, and I forget it's a different animal.  I'm so used to welding over rust with just a swipe of the wire brush to remove loose stuffAre you going to rock in an area to weld in, or leave the plywood?  Sheetrock is a little more flame resistant I suppose."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/

Reply:Nice job. It's got everything you need except the beam in the ceiling for the chain hoist.A butterfly without wings, is just an ugly bug
Reply:FARMERSAMM - I really really debated over the sheet rock vs the plywood thing. 90 percent of my welding and cutting will be done in the open area and the closed in area will be an area to secure tools and items, layout stuff etc. I am planning on putting some lite sheet stuff where I might be doing any welding inside, but not cover the entire wall, checking with a place that does A/C work on some scrap stuff. Also, FYI that "DIRTDOBBER" QUOTE if you notice is also from Midland and I hate to say but is a direct relation of mine..ought to see his shop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway, Plan on putting the covering on the sliding door tomorrow and then I can get all my tools out of other shop which my "SON - THE DIRTDOBBER" has completely taken over!!!. Reply:My Gosh - You guys have keen eyes! MM, had to host up the front end of my riding mower, double platted that beam and didnt give enough to mattter. I helped my Father-In-Law build the "original" part of the shop, the middle part and on the inside before everything got covered and no access, we put a piece of 1 7/8 pipe down the middle of the shop on top of the joist. Only had to use it once but we sure were glad we had it there. I still have room to add a small I-beam in the area where the chain is at, maybe later though.
Reply:You all go right ahead - I'm all ears, thought I went to sleep and woke up in the middle of a different thread!!

Reply:JayRay  Not that it's any of my business, but If you were to straddle several rafters with a 4x4 or a piece of iron, you would be able to lift your truck. Attached ImagesA butterfly without wings, is just an ugly bug
Reply:MM thanks on that, on the interior part of that shop I do have a large piece of 1 7/8 pipe fitted across several joist like you have drawn up. Need to put something out in the open area like you've drawn up. Will keep that in mind. Tks again
