okay man help me out if you could .. why can't i burn thru a tack and finish a weld that way ? like i said i'm new at this tig stuff , and if i can't get any good at it i can always finish with stick..but wanted to get a new skill and thought that tig would be great if i could learn it. plus -- lots of thin parts to finish like battery box and fender mounts thanks for your honest response and by the way --I hate American Chopper and won't watch it. anybody who can open a box and pull out a $ 10,000. engine well, I can't identify with that.
Reply:ok calm down..i appreciate that you took my advice to heart...saftey has no compromise..especially when it comes to welding..tig is an art... and thats the best way to describe it..stick welding is "hack"....dont get me wrong fellas... stick has its place..allways has allways will..but you have 2 diffrent processes here..stick will tack your stuff on no doubt...but when you go to weld over it with tig?the "crap" happens..you did'nt get every itsy bitsy piece of flux out before tigging.. it wont be anywhere near as clean as it has to be after.. you have big blobs of yuck welds to go over.. no no.. spare yourself the greif...you need seat time before taking on such a job...and thats that...dont be foolish.. your talking lives here......zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:thanks for the advice -- i sent a pic ,but it's lost in cyberspace somewhere --- i'm gonna try again |
