Some Tig welds

I bought the TA 185 last friday.  Here are a few pics, I think I was too close taking them. Attached ImagesReal world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:1.  3 passes 5/16 Hot Rolled T  joint.  185 or less amps2.  Verticle up3.  1/8 sheet aluminum, 125 amps Fillet4.  Same as 3 different weld5.  Same piece as 1.Real world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:Now the practice begins   The steel looks like you need some more heat and maybe make your weld a bit bigger over all.StephenI'd rather be hunting........USE ENOUGH HEAT.......Drifting around Aussie welding more pipe up, for something different.....wanting to get home.
Reply:Just from the looks of the beads..You dont seem to be very comfy...Hands shaking?Slow and steady..Put your arms on the table and use your wrist to move the torch not your arms.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:i was told by a guy that a good way to keep your hands steady if you cant have your elbows or arms on a table or some other sort of fixed object is to just keep your elbows it...they guy was a pipe fitter on the oil platforms off of Norway for some years before getting out of it....i tried it messing around a bit and it seems to work pretty well for me.in any case some of those welds look really good if you just started tigging, keep it up and remember practice practice practice...and just think, your luckey....im learning to tig on aluminum

Reply:Thanks guys, you are right, I put the piece in the vice with hands and elbows floating in the air.  Tonight I am going to turn the vice backwards on the bench so I can rest on it.  I have used 2 80 cf tanks of argon on aluminum and steel.  I also used a few pounds of smaw rod.  This thing is the BALLS!    I ran a bead on some 23 guage steel at 30 amps. I had to use .035 mig wire for filler.  I was amazed I could do it.On the Steel 5/16 T joints, I had the machine on 185 with a 90 background.I am getting the hang of it.  A couple more bottles of gas, I think I will be ready for customer work.  I want to be able to know what I am doing when I get jobs for it.  Friday I have an air seat out of a 95 ford that needs total rebuilding. I am going to tig it for fun.I built an aluminum box 6" X 6" X 2" when I first got the machine.  I am going to build another one once I totally have the hang of it.  Before and after. Its great being self employed.  I can buy what toys I want and play with them at work.DavidReal world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
