Built a cart for my new Dialarc 250. The welder came on a heavy duty dolly and I just built on top of that. My Idea was that the welder was going to take up floor space so I may as well make a work surface over it. I went to the scrap yard looking for a piece of 1/4 " platefor the top and stumbled across a piece of 1" plate that was nearly exactly the size I needed; it was much heaver then I wanted. but it sure makes a great work bench. Reply:I used 7018 at approx. 120 amps DC on the upright legs, 6013 approx 100 amps DC on almost everything else. I got a bit of a start when I was welding on the 2 x 2 pieces on the bottom. I had tacked both pieces to the dolly and started welding across the top of the tube when I heard a very loud crack, it sounded like a 22 cal. going off. The tack welds had broke free on the bottom of the 2 x 2, I thought something had "letgo" in the welder.I wish I took some before pictures of the welder, the sides were pretty beatup, lots of spatter and crud. I wired wheels down to bear metal and put fresh paint on the top and sides Also got new stickers for each side. I would like to have repainted the face and back, but I just don't have the time now.I also replaced the origanal short #4 leads w/ 50' of #2 for each lead. Attached Images
