Man i am nuts!!! I found this on craigslist. Not sure what it is worth. The guy is asking 450.00. He is nuts!!!. What should i offer him.  I don't have the time to mess with it, but would be a fun project to just dick around with. Any ideas by looking at the picture what year it is and how much it is worth.ThanksAaron

Reply:Not a Shorthood and has large fuel cap so is younger than 1956.Vacuum idler and front panel lead connections so is older than early 1972.Looks to be a faded Redface so likely is older than 1970.Probably the best guess until you get the serial and codeGordie -- "I believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant."
Reply:Did the engine throw a rod, or have water collect in the exhaust? Are the bearings gone from no oil? Even if it 'runs', it might have major problems. Same with the rest; have rodents chewed the wires and their urine corroded things?You'd really need to check it closely to determine the condition before guessing at a value. What do you 'need' it for? Sometimes just to play with is justification, othertimes it must perform as new; only you can decide.

Reply:I paid $650 for mine. It was about the same condition. I will bet the engine is frozen and the plugs are off and it is full or rain water.  The overhaul kit without the oil pump, carb, plugs and wires cost more than I paid for it. Reply:If its frozen up order some stuff called mouse milk will have to get it from an aircraft supply. It devolves rust like you would not imagine. We use it when restoring old tractors. Works wonders just need to be careful will eat certain things up.
