I need to make an offset braket for my mini-x to mount a rock drill so I can get more reach and dept. it needs to be ajustable and strong so i can but the base of the drill down and lift the machine to get in positions sometimes. Here is a sketch I drew up and a pic of the attacment Attached Images Attached Imagesoffset bracket.pdf (28.8 KB, 50 views)
Reply:You have described what you want to do, you have also provided pics and a sketch with dimensions of what you want to make. You seem to be forming a question. So, exactly what is your question, or am I missing something here?#1. If you don't like what I wrote, or if it offends you, then don't read it!#2. I am living life the way I see fit, if you don't like the way I'M living, tough sh**!
Reply:I would like sugestion on the construction the sizr of the tube a way to ajust with very little play at joints extra gussets and help or sugestions would be greatly appricated.
Reply:In that case, you will need to provide more details about the machine!Like weight, types of pressure that the bracket might incur, size of mounting area and so forth.#1. Reply:The machine is about 12,000 lbs. The attachment is about 900 lbs. The mounting plate is 12"x16"x 3/4". The machine see's a lot of vibration from the rock drill. Also there are times that I have to load the base of the feed beam with the weight of the machine to lift the front of the track off the ground to swing it into position. Also the feed beam tilt's left and right.
Reply:The offset movement, and adjustability, coupled with the weight of the machine you're trying to shift with the linkage, makes this a real engineering challenge. While I'm all for back-of-the-napkin engineering, I think I'd talk to a licensed professional engineer, or the equipment manufacturer, about the design for what you want. Might be the manufacturer would help out with engineering the part in exchange for rights to the idea...Benson's Mobile Welding - Dayton, OH metro area - AWS Certified Welding Inspector
Reply:The equipment manfacture will not help and the attchment manfacture will not also. If i did not have to make it ajustable it would be easier. then i could just weld it solid maybe I will make 2 version one for reach and one for dept. |
