I applied for a job today and it asked what a M2 tacking test is and I am not real sure what all is involved. Can some one show me some love.

Reply:I am not sure what the designation M2 means but standard tacking tests involve a short one to two inch long fillet. The Tee joint is then snapped apart for inspection. The tack weld must be sound with good fusion to both sides, no undercut, and no porosity. You either pass or fail on the visual inspection of the fracture. Make sure the machine is set up correctly before starting your test piece. |
