Currently riding out Irene and so far the winds are gusty but not bad and the rain has been continuous but no flooding yet though the canal in the back has come up about 10 or so inches.  Damage here wont be so bad but further north in the north east it will be so anyone in the mid west thats without work or low on work should consider getting their bags packed and welding rig ready to go because there will obviously be allot of work to come for some time.Welding Supervisor Department of Corrections.
Reply:Good to hear it's not that bad there. I changed my mind about running down there to Richmond yesterday evening because it looked like it might be ugly there this morning and I'd have to drive the last 2 hrs into the teeth of the storm and then have it chase me home. Decided descression was the better part of valor and I didn't need the gen set THAT bad "just in case", to make the trip under questionable circumstances. I can wait and grab it later this week or when time allows us to hook up..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:storms hitting us tomorrow morning guess it aint blowing out to sea
Reply:Dominion power estimates up to 2 weeks for total power restoration.  Richmond area is at 375k without power and total outages between Eastern VA and North Eastern NC is 913k.  Canal has flooded to the back wall of the house and the street is flooded to a foot shy of the garage.  Winds are picking up despite the fact that the eye is well north of us right now.Welding Supervisor Department of Corrections.

Reply:Hope you're doing OK Big65 and trust the only reason we haven't heard from you since last night is due to the power outages.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:Yea its pretty bad here, glad you didnt come down Doug, you might have been slepping in the camper. Still a ton of people out of power here. I am running my house and the neighbors on gen power, crazy storm indeed. You have to learn the rules of the game. And then you have to play better than anyone else. Albert Einstein
Reply:yeah I was watching the radar all day yesterday and hoping you all were OK. Let me know when things are better Josh . I take off Wed after Labor day for two weeks for that trip, but I'll come down when I get back for the machine. I'll touch base with you when we get closer.Looks like we didn't need the machine anyways for this storm. We lucked out and it wasn't as bad as it might have been. One customer lost power for 12 hrs and I lost it for 8. My small genset was able to get them by, and I got power back before I was going to pull it for my place. The rest of my customers didn't loose power for any length of time luckily. I still need to go take a look at one customers place in Jersey. They were about 10 miles from where Irene finally made landfall and only 3 blocks off the beach in Long Beach Island. need to see how much work I have at thier place..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:To Josh, Doug and the rest of you guys, God Bless you all. I hope it blows outta there fast.Doug, I take it you're buyin the diesel Bobcat? Cool!, congrats! I can't wait to here how much you like it. I hope it brings you more work than I got from my Lincoln. Since I got it, I've only looked at one small mobile job.  Everything else has been easier to do at the shop!!! I'm dyin to REALLY try that thing out. Before I got it I had to turn down mobile jobs. I don't know if you'll keep it busy, but I bought some Power Service fuel additives for the welder and compressor since they've been sitting idle. Biocide, stabilizer and cetane booster. Just a suggestion/reminder."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! I sent him over to snag that MIC-4 while tbone wasn't looking!" - duaneb55"I have bought a few of Tbone's things unlike Stick-Man who helps himself" - TozziWelding"Stick-man"

Reply:I was tired yesterday and we had some clean up but all is well.  It looks like Vermont took the hardest hit due to flooding across all of the river basins and many roads and bridges are washed out and many buildings are damaged or gone and local infrastructures are in bad shape. We ended up with a little water damage around the chimney and wind pushed a tree enough to lift part of a concrete walkway.Welding Supervisor Department of Corrections.
