I did a quick search but didn't find exactly what I was looking for. I'm sure it's out there already somewhere. I have a Ranger 8 welder/generator, and was looking for information about running a Mig Weldpack 175 off of it....is it possible? Also I have a Precision Tig 275....far too large to run off of the generator? Thanks in advance.
Reply:The Ranger 8 puts out like 35 amps @ 230v aux power. I believe the Precision Tig 275 wants something close to 100 amps at rated power on 230v and draws something like 10 amps at idle without the PFC and 23 amps with the PFC. I doubt 35 amps will do much for you with that. The mig should run however..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:I have a 250 amp inverter tig I run off my bobcat all the time. It doesnt seem to put a hurting on it at all...but with a transformer machine you will be able to run it, but like DSW said, don't be expecting full power
Reply:I used to have a Ranger 8 and I ran my Lincoln SP-130-T 220 volt running flux core off of it quite a bit, worked great with no problems other than I had to switch it on high idle manually, wouldn't kick up when I turned the wire welder on.Trailblazer 302Hobart Stickmate AC/DCLincoln SP 135 TSmith torchSpoolmatic 30A
Reply:I have been running a 220V Lincoln SP-170T off of my Ranger 250 for years at the race track. Works just fine for me.Later,Jason
Reply:Sounds good, I'll give both of them a shot. Just wanted an idea of what to expect. Thanks guys! |
