I havent posted on here for a while but i just finished this rack for the weird pipe i have laying around the yard and thought I would post it up. The base and uprights are 14" 3/8 wall pipe I pulled out of a well and the arms are 3.5" oilfield tubing. I welded it with fabshield 21B but I need to find better type of wire that is available in .045. Total cost about 250.00Im thinking of building another but it takes a lot of time.
Reply:Looks like nothing short of an earthquake will knock that over. Good work using something that would likely rust away in a patch of weeds or be sent on a slow boat to china.
Reply:Idacal, you've got a base and uprights heavy enough to hang a locomotive on each side!! . You don't care for the Hobart wire ? How come?
Reply:Did you want to keep it portable?
Reply:Wow, that's a stout rack!!Rex
Reply:Nice rack idacal. I imagine that did take you some time to build. Reply:Can you explain what you want a new wire to do, that Fabshield 21B doesn't do? It's 'meat and potatoes' fluxcore wire, but otherwise, it's not bad stuff. If you've got something specific in mind, I can help you figure out what wire would work better for your purposes... Originally Posted by idacal.... Reply:I dont really dislike it but i thought it made a brittle weld from what I have read. it works great on dirty metal like that stuff though. I have been using a coreshield 8 on the new metal Im welding and I like the way it flows but the smallest wire size that the lws could get was 1/16". and welding vertical up is difficult Im just looking for some other wire to try, mainly Im not real good with a ln25 I havent used it enough and Im trying to blame it on the wire I guessLast edited by idacal; 05-08-2009 at 01:45 AM.
