I currently have a lincoln 220v buzz box. Nothing special. I have been looking at an AC/DC arc welder Miller thunderbolt 225/150. Any advantage to this welder over my buzz box?
Reply:You'll not only have the advantages of DCSP, DCRP and AC,,, you'll have a much larger field of electrodes to choose from.
Reply:Another advantage of the Miller Thunderbolt (or its cousin, the Hobart Stickmate AC/DC) is the variable amp control.John-----------------------------------|Craftsman 230/140 amp AC/DC BuzzboxSynchrowave 250
Reply:Out of position welding is easier with dc.
Reply:I couldn't see trading a AC machine for an AC/DC machine with only 150ampsDC, unless I was getting a great price. Inverters of similar amperages are similarly priced. They are smaller and more portable. If you had a AC/DC machine, then the AC side would not get much use. |
