help please?

hi im new to the site im only 17 and im very intrested in welding however im not very experianced, i would like to buy a welder but im on a budget of about $100-$200 I would like to make some peoject with it such as small metal workbenches and some other small projects i was looking into the welder i have in the link below and was wondering if it would be good for what i want to build, can anybody tell me if this will work? and if it wont recommend one please?http://www.craftsman.com/shc/s/p_101...7&blockType=L7

Reply:Do you know if there are any that can run on gas? Because theres no 220v outlets at my house and some of my friends use ones from their washer/dryers but mine run on gas
Reply:Only if you find a welder generator. They have there own power provided by a gas or diesel motor. They are not cheap.  You should ask the owner of your house if you can run a 220 outlet. Short of that you will be limited to an underpowered 110 machine. You also need to make sure you have a safe area to weld in and have all the proper safety equipment. Reply:Tyler,Sorry to inform you that 110 Volt Arc Welders, in my opinion, are just barely one step out of the toy category.  Electric welders of any useful capability, priced anywhere close to your budget, will require a 220 Volt supply.  Can you have an electrician take a look at your proposed work area and give you an estimate of what it will take to install a 220 volt outlet?I offer three choices: Good, Fast, & Cheap. Reply:unfortunatley it looks like my only choice right now is the 110v welder because the welder generator combos, and welder generators are way out of my price range for now at least.
Reply:well, I may be in luck because my uncle is an electrician so i may be able to call him in the morning to ask about it and he might be able do it for the cost of materials.

Reply:I've seen a few old gasoline driven welders on CL close to your max price range. Many that need some work can often be had for very little. If you are good with your hands one of these might be worth your while as a project, but it can often end up being quite costly to refurb some units, so it's a gamble.Having your electrician take a look at your place would be your best bet right now..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size.
