Hello any one out there, just pick up a HD-251D-1 and would like to know what can I weld with it? Aluminum, stainless, what? I have a xmt 304 power source
Reply:HF 251D... Can be used for aluminum TIG with AC welding output and HF set for continuous on, can be used for DC TIG arc starting if the controls are set up right. Is your XMT set up for lift-arc? If it is you don't need the HF box for DC starts. The only time you really need HF for a DC TIG start is for code work that doesn't allow for lift or scratch starts. And since the XMT doesn't have AC weld output aluminum is pretty much out.
Reply:I have the exact same setup. It is nice to have the HF start and the gas solenoid built in. But yes you will be limited to DC only so steel and stainless are fine but not alum.
Reply:I had the Miller HF box also but on the 350XMT you can also just add the gas solenoid valve. Not certain if this can be done on the 304.: |
