I have a little side job coming up---hardfacing on a rebuilt tractor implement---the owner supplied a roll of Stoody 101HC-G innershield .045 wire. Anyone had experience with this wire or know what volts/amps is a good starting point??TIA,Jerry
Reply:In either a Lincoln or Miller catalog that has consumables, there will be properties listed for each filler.
Reply:i run the stultchs .045 wire. i run 75/25. 25 volts at around 480 wf. run solid stringers with a gap between for packing dirt. if you are running steel, then verticle stringers to allow the steel to slide. if aggregates are the game, i run an extended X pattern. let me know if this helps."Retreat hell, were just fighting in the other direction"Miller Trailblazer 302, Extreme 12 VS, Dimension 400, Spectrum 375, HF 251D-1, Milermatic 251 w/ spoolgun Hypertherm 1000Lincoln sp 1702000 F-450 to haul it

Reply:I have used the Stoody hardface wire quite a bit. It actually welds pretty smoothly. I think I ran it at about 180 Amps or so. I was told, i don't know this for sure, but if you weld more than 2 passes with this wire it looses alot of its hardening properties. Like I said, you can take that or leave it, but I built up with 102 bare wire then finished off with the hard face wire. Hope this helps.
Reply:build up with a 70 series, then no more than 2 passes of hardfacing. WV is right, steultchs is the same way. look down the page he http://www.weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=11317 there is a crusher rotor being built up to hardface."Retreat hell, were just fighting in the other direction"Miller Trailblazer 302, Extreme 12 VS, Dimension 400, Spectrum 375, HF 251D-1, Milermatic 251 w/ spoolgun Hypertherm 1000Lincoln sp 1702000 F-450 to haul it |
